An unlikely diarrhea remedy.

Sorry for the gross title and subject matter but if you are mom you might want to read this. I love our family doctor for many reasons, the main reason being his holistic approach and natural remedies. I prefer to give medication as a last resort ONLY so when I texted him Sunday worried about YaYa's explosive sick smelling diapers I was so happy to see his call come in 15 minutes later. (Thus another reason why I love him.) Yes it is true my little YaYa got sick over Labor Day weekend for the very first time. She caught a virus that started in her nose, worked it's way down to her throat and into her little tummy. To my dismay he told me there is no cure for diarrhea. Great. Then he followed up with, "But if you are open to this I have found that it works very effectively with my two girls. Give her half a Ghiradelli DARK chocolate square three times a day." I thought he was joking. He wasn't. So because I trust him and was glad he didn't have me running into CVS for an over the counter, synthetic medication (likely to be recalled soon anyway) I went to the supermarket to buy the bag of DARK chocolate squares. He warned me that some babies resist it as dark chocolate is quite bitter but I assured him YaYa would eat it gladly and she did! Cut to Tuesday and 5 (1/2) Ghiradelli chocolate squares later... YaYa is diarrhea free and lovin life. So there you go... a sweet little NATURAL diarrhea remedy for you or your little tyke! The hard part is keeping your husband from devouring the supply...

And for any curious lookey-loos here is a link to our amazing doctor...

Labor Day fun in the LBK!

We returned home yesterday evening from a shirt trip to Lubbock! I had some wedding parties to attend so Tyler had the pleasure of spending lots of one on one time with his girl. We had so much fun with our cousins Xavier, Jimmy and Joey! YaYa was completely smitten. Little Joey took her for rides in his Viper and watched Ratatouille, Nemo and Toy Story with the little monkey. I realized this weekend that we are going to have to work on YaYa and her idea of personal space. She wouldn't give Joey room to breathe. I guess we are lucky Ja-Jo (as YaYa sweetly named him) is very sweet and patient with little babies. He is a living doll. We spent all day Sunday with four kids in tow. I'd really like to have a family that size although it did prove to be a little tiring and costly. We are going to figure out a way to make it happen I guess. So much love and so much fun. We bowled and played games at Main Event during the day and ended up at Stars and Stripes Drive-In that evening to watch Despicable Me. It was such a cute movie, one that we will definitely be adding to our Pixar collection. I really wish we had a drive-in close by. The kids brought blankets and put the seats down turning the back of the SUV into a bed of sorts. Stinky socks, popcorn and Twizzlers galore! It was non-stop laughter as Gru made his journey into fatherhood! He was such an endearing character.

Ty and I romanced over the idea of owning a drive-in theatre. It's a shame there aren't more of them. There was a great playground and really state of the art concessions. The prices were so reasonable compared to the regular theatre and it is hands down the best option for taking toddlers to the movies! We will definitely be adding Stars and Stripes Drive-In to our Lubbock intenerary from now on. Here are a few pics from the weekend. Sorry to say they are from my Blackberry :( Completely forgot my camera at home. We can't wait to return to LBK to hang out with our sweet cousins... YaYa has been throwing her hands up today asking "Ja-Jo, Ja-Jo?" She's missin her little man...

Some updated pics and video of YaYa!

We kicked off the summer with a trip to the park with cousins Micaela and Genna before they left to New Jersey for the summer. They are so good with YaYa and she really loves them.

They really are the best little baby-sitters and are ridiculously CUTE! We are very glad to have them back...

I was so happy to welcome my good friend Natalie to Dallas for a weekend. We had a great time together as always with a delicious brunch at La Duni, custard at Wild Abouts and some playtime at Froggies and Toadpole's on Knox. Can't wait for another weekend with Natalie and another amazing Herman's Hermits show!

We attended a great backyard wedding here in Rockwall! Congrats Sondra and Jake! It was so beautiful and a really good time!

Needless to say, YaYa was a dancin fool that night. She literally danced herself to sleep. I noticed as she was movin to the groovin that her eyes were getting heavy and her balance was getting shaky so I piccked her up and she fell asleep before her head even hit my shoulder. Little party animal didn't want to stop. Total trip our little YaYa!
Our Chicago cousins came to visit and we all made our way to Lubbock for a family wedding. Much fun was had by all. YaYa loves her cousins

She was always up for some good ole wrestling action with Jackson! Uncle Ricky treated us to a dinner at the Governor's suite at the Mansion on Turtle Creek. The food, ambiance and company was amazing. And yes those are bowls and bowls of french fries. White truffle and parmesan french fries. YUM!

These next few pics are a good example of what a family outing is like in the LBK. Notice we filled up the entire Baskin Robbins! Great times...

The ONLY ice cream she will eat is Mint Chocolate Chip, a girl after her Daddy's heart. Hope you enjoyed the photos. Will try to get some videos up tomorrow! Nite Nite ;)

Anxiously awaiting Pippa!!!

12 weeks to go till our newest babygirl makes her appearance. The girls bedroom/nursery is almost complete and little YaYa is becoming increasingly curious about Mommy's growing belly. Sometimes she'll point and call it "pansa" and other times she'll lay her head on it and say "baby." We recently welcomed YaYa's newest cousin William to the family. He arrived August 28th late in the evening at a whopping 9 lbs 8.7 oz. and 22 in. long. Gosselin genes are BIG!
Ty is so curious about how Pippa will look and is secretly hoping for a little Blondie. I have told him not to hold his breath ;)
So we have decided to follow in the tradition of a latin name starting with the letter F. NuBaby will be called Filippa Mignon Mendez Gosselin aka Pippa. Filippa is the Italian spelling of Felipa and derives from Greek meaning "lover of horses." I knew I wanted one of my children to have an Italian name. My time spent in Rome will be with me always, and I just can't wait till my girls are old enough to take them there. Che bella Roma! Pippa is a common nickname for all of the variations of Philippa, Filippa, Felipa. Yet another adorable little nickname.
I look forward to blogging more and Facebooking less. YaYa is growing so much and talking non-stop. I want to chronicle all the funny things she says. I never want to forget these moments. Our babies are truly precious and it is a priveledge to watch them grow, a priveledge and an honor.
New YaYa fotos and videos to come soon! Here is one of my favorite photos of Rome on a rainy day in honor of THIS rainy day!
